Nucleus was created by Alicia Shepherd, a commercial real estate leader who has spent her career building systems that help agents succeed on purpose—not by accident.

Alicia’s mission is to make commercial real estate a place where more people can truly belong and thrive. Not through slogans, but through structure. Through better education. Through raising the standard of how agents learn, serve clients, and build businesses.

Alicia Shepherd is the founder of Nucleus and is the lead developer of the various commercial real estate training programs that Nucleus has to offer. Currently, Alicia leads her National Expansion team, KWC Team with agents in Los Angels, Washington, Austin, San Antonio and Huston. She is an executive coach and head coach for the commercial division of MAPS Coaching. She is the division leader of education and training for KW Commercial and she is the visionary behind the Launch Commercial brand of companies which offers various services tailored to the businesses of commercial real estate agents, teams and brokerages. In 2016, Alicia Shepherd was leaving a national commercial brokerage firm, in frustration due to their narrow way of operating driven by antiquated ways of thinking. While that firm offered reasonable training, considered some of the best in the industry at the time, that firm like the majority of the industry, only truly opened the doors to an narrow demographic. Alicia knew that the industry could do so much better, be so much better. And so she set out to make the commercial real estate industry an inclusive and equitable industry no longer defined by the "old boys club." The first step on that journey was to develop the 8-Week Launch training curriculum, which is the foundation of the Nucleus offerings. To date, well over 1,000 commercial agents across the country have taken 8-Week Launch training in various formats, including: in person classes, live webinars and on demand digital access. 8-Week Launch has won high praise from many multi decade veterans of the commercial real estate industry, many of whom now leverage it to train their junior agents.

Bruce Seid is a Nucleus CRE trainer, coach, strategist and content / curriculum creator. For 20 years, Bruce has specialized in Commercial Real Estate Leasing and Sales. With a focus on Business Owners, his in-depth knowledge and experience benefits Buyers, Sellers, Tenants, and Landlords. Bruce’s strong attention to detail, creative outlook and full-service approach gives his clients a healthy advantage when negotiating and structuring a transaction. He advises his clients on the right opportunities to fit their business goals, style, needs, risk tolerance, financial capabilities and goals. Bruce is a founding member of KW Commercial and currently serves as the National Division Leader for Office properties. Coaching and training have always been his passion. With an approach that is both personable and analytical his coaching clients and students get an engaging and informative experience. He mentors, teaches and coaches, both new and seasoned commercial brokers, throughout the U.S. Bruce has been hired by multiple brokerages as an advisor for start-up and operations. He has served on several CRE leadership committees and boards. Long before his Commercial Real Estate career, Bruce was a successful gymnastics coach with hundreds of athletes earning championship titles. He then became the owner of a gymnastics school, taking the company from less than 100 to nearly 1,000 students. As a successful business owner and coach, analyzing opportunities, determining strengths, weaknesses and strategies, while working collaboratively for the best outcomes are the same tools he utilizes today in his coaching, teaching, and brokerage careers. In addition to his Nucleus coaching and training programs, Bruce incorporates his lifelong passion for teaching multiple times a year through speaking engagements at Regional and National Real Estate events.

Katie Calhoun is Vice President of Operations at Launch, where she thrives on building systems, creating order, and driving processes forward—often three steps ahead while the rest of the world catches up. With a sharp eye for efficiency and a love for structure, Katie has built a reputation for turning complexity into streamlined workflows that scale. Outside of her leadership role, Katie is a mom of two and a proud military spouse. Her family’s rhythm of relocating every three years has only deepened her appreciation for systems and organization, both at home and at work. Whether guiding her team through operational growth or unpacking a new house, Katie’s passion is clear: structure is freedom, and the right systems unlock both productivity and peace of mind.

With over nine years of experience in commercial real estate operations, Tara has honed her skills in building, training and managing strategic, targeted databases. Her expertise and leadership in data management have enabled her to form a dynamic partnership with agents, propelling their businesses to new heights. Tara’s in-depth knowledge of RealNex, coupled with her strong relationship with RealNex leadership, allows her to design comprehensive database training tailored to meet specific agent needs. This personalized approach ensures exponential business growth for her clients. Together with her dedicated data team, Tara offers unparalleled training, support and innovative strategies, making her an invaluable asset to any real estate operation.

Building the Systems First

For four years, Alicia served as Vice President of KW Commercial during one of the brand’s most significant periods of growth and professional development. The work was hands-on and accountable—building training systems, coordinating resources, and strengthening agent capability as the organization expanded to more than 2,000 agents nationwide.

During that time, one truth became clear: training alone isn’t enough. Agents also need real operational support.

That insight led to the creation of LAUNCH Commercial Real Estate Network, where Alicia serves as CEO. LAUNCH provides institutional-level operational, research, and transactional support—without the heavy financial constraints of traditional brokerage models. It gives agents the backbone they need to execute at a higher level.

Nucleus and LAUNCH were built to solve the same problem from different sides: clarity without structure doesn’t scale, and structure without clarity doesn’t stick.
